Protect your dog or cat; get your pet licensed
Up-to-date pet licenses enable animal control officers to contact pet owners anytime of the day so lost animals may be returned to their
owners instead of being impounded at the animal shelter, and injured pets may receive immediate veterinary care.
Licenses for 2010 are currently being issued; 2009 animal licenses are valid only through Dec. 31, 2009. All dogs and cats over the
age of six months are required to be licensed by the city. The permit fees are $10 for pets that are spayed or neutered and $20 for animals that
are not spayed or neutered. Proof of current rabies vaccinations is required. Citizens may license two dogs and two cats. Pet owners who
wish to license more than that must apply for a special pet permit, which costs $100 in addition to the normal licensing fee, plus an
annual renewal fee of $20. Pet licenses may be renewed in person at City Hall, by mail or
online.
