Lenexa offers two ways to recycle your holiday tree

Tree pickup service
The city is partnering with Lenexa Boy Scout Troop 136 for the annual Christmas tree pickup service. Pickup dates are Jan. 2-3 and Jan. 9-10. To schedule your tree pickup, e-mail troop136@kc.surewest.net or call (913) 982-3900. Include your address and phone number. Trees should be placed at the front side of the house. The Boy Scouts will take collected trees to the city’s tree recycling center. The Boy Scouts request a minimum tax deductible donation of $10.

Holiday tree drop-off service
Lenexa Parks and Recreation offers a free Christmas tree recycling drop-off area for Lenexa residents only. Trees may be dropped off between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., Dec. 26 through Jan. 6 at the Mill Creek soccer fields parking lot at 79th Street and Cottonwood. Only Christmas trees will be accepted. Please remove all decorations, wire, nails and plastic bags. The trees will be chipped for mulch. For more information, contact David Howell at (913) 541-8592.
