Two department directors to retire from the city

The city of Lenexa will lose two department directors later this month when they retire from the city.

John VanNice, who joined the city in 1983, served as the city’s first Information Technology director. When VanNice joined Lenexa, the city had only one computer. With his leadership the city became known across the country as a leader in technology.

Roger Kroh, who has worked with the city since 2002, served as the Community Development director. He led the department during a period of high growth and worked on several major projects including Lenexa City Center.

The city is in the process of hiring directors for these two departments. Decisions are expected by the end of the year.
