City of Festivals offers fun this fall
Come enjoy chili, enchantment, holiday lights
Your City of Festivals has organized a great line-up of fall festivals and activities perfect for families and neighbors.
Lenexa Chili Challenge, presented by 94.9 KCMO, will be held Oct. 17-18 in Old Town (Santa Fe Trail Drive and Pflumm Road). Friday night, it’s a street party atmosphere with live entertainment. The event opens at 5 p.m. and the band will begin at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, chili samples are available beginning at 9 a.m. until gone. Also vote for the People’s Choice Award and enjoy games, activities and music. Admission is $1 on Saturday for those over 12.
Pumpkin Carving, Oct. 21
The pumpkin carving event will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m., at the Senior Center. Bring a pumpkin to carve and add to the display at the Lenexa Enchanted Forest. Treats will be provided. Admission is free.
Lenexa Enchanted Forest, Oct. 22, 23
Bring your little superheroes, cowboys, ladybugs and princesses to Sar-Ko-Par Trails Park for the Lenexa Enchanted Forest from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Enter at 87th Street Parkway and Greenway by the skate park. Come see the forest full of wonderful characters, magic shows, puppets, live animals, story tellers, and enjoy inflatables at the end of the trail. Concessions will be available for purchase. Admission is $1 each, for all ages.
Old Town Lighting Ceremony, Dec. 5
Get in the holiday spirit at the Old Town Lighting Ceremony at 6:30 p.m., at Santa Fe Trail Drive and Pflumm Road. Greet friends and neighbors while enjoying holiday music, toasted marshmallows and warm cider, bring the kids for a visit with Santa, and watch as the Old Town buildings are lit for the first time of the season. Admission is free.
