Charged with the creation and maintenance of public infrastructure that supports a desirable quality of life, your Public Works Department works hard for you each and every day and is proud to be able to make your life safer and easier. The department consists of six divisions to accomplish this mission:

Streets Division
Traffic Division
Rain to Recreation/Watershed Management

The City of Lenexa Public Works Department is proud to be a nationally accredited agency. The department was first accredited on November 29, 2004 and then re-accredited on December 9, 2008 by the American Public Works Association (APWA).

The APWA Accreditation Program formally verifies and recognizes public works organizations throughout the nation for compliance with recommended practices established within the public works industry as set forth in its Public Works Management Practices Manual.
