Lenexa’s street network consists of approximately 650 lane miles of roads and 23 miles of hiking/biking trails, all of which the Streets Division maintains. Some examples of street maintenance include pothole patching, broken curb repair, mill/overlay and micro/slurry sealing.

In a recent study, residents were asked to rank the importance of various issues within Lenexa for the Vision 2030 Plan, and of the respondents, 96% rated the maintenance of roads and infrastructure as the most important issue. The Street Division staff continues to provide services that meet or exceed the citizens’ and traveling public’s expectations.
Additional Streets Division responsibilities and services:
● Sidewalk Repairs – Public sidewalks on the street rights-of-way in Lenexa are maintained by the city.
● Snow & Ice Removal – The goal of the Streets Division is to have the streets plowed or treated as soon as possible after the end of a storm, or within 24 hours after a major storm. Click here for more information and tips on snow removal.
● Street Sweeping – All city streets are swept three to four times a year.
● Dumpster Program – Three weekends a year, at the Public Works Operations facility, the city provides citizens an opportunity to dispose of materials that would not typically go out on the curb for regular trash pick-up. Click here for dates and more information on this program.
● Curbside Cleanup - The city provides an annual curbside pickup event for collection of large unwanted items. Click here for dates and more information on this program.
