There is no registering of firearms required in Lenexa. It is advisable for the owners of weapons to record the serial number, manufacture, model and caliber of any weapons that they might own, and store this information in a safe place. Serial numbers can be entered into a nation wide computer system that allows police officers to run the number anywhere and see if the weapon is stolen. This system does not track the sale of weapons, only lost / stolen weapons reported to the police.
