What is D.A.R.E.?
D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) is a national police officer-led program designed to educate school children on the dangers of drugs, crime and violence, and promote respect and positive role models within the community.

D.A.R.E. officers

Lenexa D.A.R.E. officers are members of the School Resource Unit assigned to work primarily in Lenexa’s eight elementary schools, two middle schools and one high school. They are certified by the National Association of School Resource Officers and certified and trained by D.A.R.E. America in the program curriculum. D.A.R.E. officers plan and present 10 lessons to more than 600 sixth-grade students on topics that include drug, tobacco and alcohol use, Internet safety, peer pressure and violence. D.A.R.E. officers also provide basic lessons on similar topics to over 3,500 kindergarten through fifth-grade students, and assist with the Adventure Challenge Course and camps for each of the schools.
