Exterior Property Maintenance
The City of Lenexa is committed to assisting the residents of our community by providing standards that contribute to a positive image for the City. The participation of each resident is essential to maintain the quality of our neighborhoods. Following are some of the requirements for exterior maintenance of Lenexa properties:
Structures:
Painted surfaces must be repainted when scaling or peeling exceeds 50% of one or more walls.
Windows and Doors:
All windowpanes and doors must be kept intact.
Roof and Guttering:
Any roof surface that will allow water to enter the structure should be repaired at the point of the leak with material that is similar to the existing roof material, or the entire roof should be replaced if the roof has lost its water repellant characteristics. Any guttering or downspouts that have been broken or rusted need to be repaired or replaced.
Foundations:
The foundation should be maintained higher than the adjacent ground level and must be free of openings that would allow animals to enter under the structure.
Porches, Landings, and Decks:
Floors and railings of exterior structures must be maintained in a structurally sound condition to avoid injury.
Fencing:
Any fence or portion of a fence that is leaning or sagging will require replacement or repair to a sturdy upright position.
Waste Storage:
Residential solid waste and recyclable containers must be stored inside the garage or in the rear or side yard. The receptacles must be closed to prevent the dispersal of loose trash. The containers may be placed at the curb 24 hours prior to scheduled service.
