Splash with Me

Are you looking for pool time without the heat of the mid-day for your child? Children ages 5 years and younger, along with an adult, are welcome to drop-in for “Splash with Me” at Flat Rock Creek Pool, Monday through Friday, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. This program is designed to provide children a place to swim, play and become comfortable in the water while building self-esteem and confidence in the water. The zero-depth area will be open for use (lap lanes and diving well will not be open for use).

All pool rules and regulations will be implemented. Soft toys are welcome. Swim diapers and swimsuits are required to be worn for children that are not bathroom trained. Only U.S. Coastguard approved floatation devices are permitted. The concession stand will not be open. Adult supervision is required. This program is for members only.

Swim and Dive Lessons

Lenexa Parks and Recreation Department offers swim lessons for all skill levels during the summer season. All skill levels will learn swimming techniques, while developing self-esteem and positive aquatic experiences. Dive lessons are available for beginning divers. Lessons meet for eight 30-minutes classes per session.

Classes consist of up to 6-8 students per class, depending on the level. Daily swimming and/or baby pool is not included with lessons for the participant nor spectators. Spectators must watch from the designated viewing area in the concession stand. See the swim lesson online registration site for class descriptions, schedules and registration information. A printable registration form is also available online.

When deciding what level to place your swimmer, it is recommended that you start in the level the participant last completed. It is easier to move a child up a level than it is to move down a level. Also, when looking at levels, if you child can complete all of the skills in a specific level, look to one level higher; if the participant is unable to complete all of the skills in that level, then that is the correct placement. Skill assessments will be conducted on the first day of class to verify that each participant is in the correct level.
