Home Depot dehumidifier recall
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with The Home Depot announced a voluntary recall of Hampton Bay Dehumidifiers. About 2,000 of the Model HB-50 dehumidifiers manufactured in China have been sold. A defect can lead to overheating with fire and burn hazards. Home Depot is supplying a gift card for the full amount of the purchase price. Discovery Kids™ Animated Marine and Safari Lamp recall
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with Innovage LLC, announced a voluntary recall of the Discovery Kids™ Animated Marine and Safari Lamps. A defect in the lamp’s printed circuit board can cause an electrical short, posing a fire and burn hazard to consumers. About 360,000 of the units have been sold nationwide. This recall involves the Discovery Kids™ Animated Marine Lamp with model number 1627121 or 1628626 and the Animated Safari Lamp with model number 1627124 or 1628626. All models have batch numbers beginning with “2.” The decorative lamps are silver in color and feature rotating films with marine or safari scenes. “Discovery Kids” is printed on the front top left corner. The batch number is an 11-digit number located on the bottom of each unit. The model number can be found on the bottom of the packaging. Howard Berger recalls extension cords and power strips due to fire hazard
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with Howard Berger Co. Inc., of Cranbury, N.J. announced a voluntary recall of Brightway heavy duty outdoor extension cords and Brightway indoor household extension cords and power strips. Model numbers involved in the recall are R2600 through R2615 (outdoor extension cords), EE6 through EE20 (indoor extension cords) and MP6DG (power strips). “Brightway” is printed on the cords. Model numbers are printed on the product’s packaging. About 12,000 of the units, which were manufactured in China, were sold at hardware and discount stores nationwide from August 2009 through October 2009 for between $1 and $20. The extension cords and power strips have inadequate coating material around the cords and copper conductors that are smaller than required, posing a fire hazard to consumers. Consumers should immediately stop using the extension cords and power strips and return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
