City requirements
The City of Lenexa requires fire extinguishers in all apartments and commercial structures, and recommends at least a 2.5 pound ABC extinguisher with indicating gauge in single-family residences. Multi-family structures are required by the City of Lenexa to have at least one 2.5 pound ABC extinguisher with indicating gauge in each apartment unit. The city also requires that all commercial buildings have portable fire extinguishers with indicating gauges within the structure. The size and number of extinguishers varies depending on the occupancy.
Service and repair
Maintenance and inspection is required on most extinguishers annually; individuals should refer to the manufacturer for details. Consult the phone book for commercial companies throughout the Kansas City area that service and repair fire extinguishers.
