Divisions
The Lenexa Fire Department is divided into three divisions, each led by a division chief, answering directly to the fire chief. The three divisions are Operations, Professional Development and Emergency Management, and Fire Prevention.

The Deputy Fire Chief is Lonny Owens.

Operations Division
The Operations Division is led by Division Chief Scott Hoch. This division encompasses all operations personnel divided into three shifts: A, B and C. Each shift is led by a battalion chief. This division also contains the Water Rescue team which is made up of select personnel from each shift who have received specialized training and certification in swift water rescue, boat operations, high-angle and rope rescue.

Professional Development and Emergency Management Division
The Professional Development and Emergency Management Division is led by Division Chief Eric Ramsey. This division oversees the Training Division which is led by a battalion chief and made up of a captain responsible for EMS and a captain responsible for fire based training. This division also oversees the administrative office personnel and a multitude of other responsibilities, including accreditation management and outside agency interaction.

Fire Prevention Division
The Fire Prevention Division is led by Division Chief Marty Quick. This division oversees all aspects of fire prevention including building inspections, code enforcements, new building approval and burn permit administration. One of the goals of this division is to annually inspect every business in the city.
