Pavement Management Program

The objectives of Lenexa’s Pavement Management Program are to:

  • predict future pavement conditions based on past deterioration trends
  • determine the optimal time for treatment
  • predict the impact of the pavement preservation treatments
  • estimate the life-cycle cost
  • determine the remaining service life

Each year, the city engineer presents a Pavement Maintenance budget to the Governing Body for inclusion in the city’s Capital Improvement Program, as well as a program overview of the upcoming year’s program.

Operated through the Engineering Division, the Pavement Management Program utilizes a computer software model, which provides pavement treatment recommendations based on the Pavement Condition Index. The city uses this information to make decisions about the program, and also takes into account other factors, including cycle and quarter section approach, institutional knowledge, O & M needs, leverage of dollars and shared project, new development impact and citizen input.

For the current status of the program, refer to the Pavement Management Program overview.
