For safety purposes and to eliminate utility service interruptions, builders are responsible for making sure that utility lines are located before beginning any project that involves digging or excavation, including planting trees or shrubs. This includes locating private service connections to homes.
What to do
Kansas One Call provides a free location service for customers of their member utilities. Most Lenexa utilities are members of this service. Contact Kansas One Call at 800-DIGSAFE at least two business days in advance of your work to request utilities locations. If any of your utilities are not covered by this service, you may contact that utility company directly.
