Lenexa Vision 2030 is the city’s grass-roots visioning effort, developed as a result of the city’s commitment to community involvement and strategic planning. Throughout 2008, more than 100 citizens from all parts of the city worked together to exchange ideas, discuss important issues, and create a Vision 2030 report to serve as a guide for the city's future growth and planning efforts. Sustainability, a concept which aims to protect and restore ecological systems, enhance the well-being of citizens and improve economic efficiency, was a key theme throughout the visioning process. Community-generated vision statements from the Vision 2030 report are featured throughout this 2008 Year in Review.
With the completion of Vision 2030, 2008 will be remembered as the onset of our renewed and collective vision for the future as we continue to build, improve, celebrate and protect Lenexa, while working to secure our financial foundation, strengthen our infrastructure, and guard our commitment to provide residents with the highest quality service.
