PROPOSALS SOUGHT FOR PARKS AND RECREATION MASTER PLAN - The Lenexa Parks & Recreation Department is seeking firms to submit proposals for the development of a Parks, Recreation and Open Space Comprehensive Plan. This Master Plan, the first one to be prepared for the city, will take approximately 9–12 months to complete. During the planning effort, Lenexa residents will have numerous opportunities to voice their interests in future parks and recreation efforts for the city. The plan will include the following:

• Identification of existing public and other parks and recreational providers in the area
• Identification of future parks and recreation program needs for the city, and
• Recommended plan for implementation.

Firms interested in submitting a proposal should register online to receive the complete RFP.

2010 ARTISTS' SHOW - Come see the outstanding, artistic talent of your neighbors and friends at the 19th annual Lenexa Artists' Show, which will be on display in the City Hall Art Gallery August 26 through September 29th This juried show, which is organized by the City of Lenexa and Lenexa Arts Council, features paintings, drawings, photography, mixed media and 3-D art created by Lenexa residents.

SPINACH FESTIVAL - The Spinach Festival rolls all of the history surrounding Lenexa into a fun celebration! Explore this period of Lenexa’s history during the Annual Lenexa Spinach Festival. PUBLIC MEETINGS - The Lenexa Parks & Rec. Advisory Board meetings are held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 7:00pm. Meeting locations for summer 2010 will be listed on the Council Calendar. In the event of inclement weather, meetings will be held at the Community Center.

The Lenexa Arts Council meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month, 7:00pm, City Hall.
