Lenexa, Kansas – As a service for Lenexa residents, the city offers an annual curbside pickup of large, unwanted items. Curbside pickup will take place on two Saturdays this month: June 13 for residences east of Lackman Road, and June 20 for residences west of Lackman Road.
Residents are asked to place items for pickup at the curb by 7 a.m. on your designated date. Acceptable items include furniture, appliances and carpet; items that will not be accepted are electronics (such as computers and TVs), tires, concrete, rocks, dirt, shingles, batteries, waste oil, paint, or other hazardous materials. Loose items such as brush, lumber, fencing, metal posts and swing sets are eligible for pickup, although these items must be cut to four feet and put in bundles weighing no more than 65 pounds.
The service is free of charge, except a $35 non-refundable fee will apply for any item containing Freon. For pickup of items involving Freon, the fee must be paid in advance and an appointment must be made for pickup. To make an appointment, call (913) 477-7880 by noon on the Friday before your pickup date.
