HEALTH, DENTAL AND VISION INSURANCE is offered by the City. Employees may choose from a PPO (Preferred Provider Organization) or an HMO (Health Maintenance Organization). The network that is utilized for the PPO and HMO plans is Coventry. Coverage begins the first day of the calendar month following the date of employment.

125/FLEXIBLE SPENDING PLAN is available to employees who enroll within 30 days of their hire or at open enrollment. This is a reimbursement account that allows employees to make pre-tax deductions from their paycheck for medical and dependent care expenses. The maximum limits are $5,000 for medical/dental and $5,000 for dependent care annually.

TERM LIFE INSURANCE in the amount of 1 times annual salary is provided by the City for each employee beginning the first of the month following employment. Once the employee is a participant in KPERS or KP&F, there are additional life insurance benefits through those programs.

DISABILITY COVERAGE is provided on a short-term basis beginning on the 15th day of an illness or non-work related accident. The employee receives 60% of their salary. Employees are able to supplement this 60% benefit with any accrued sick or vacation time.
