Fireworks can be fun to use and observe. However, they are very dangerous when not used correctly. Additionally, most fireworks are illegal within the limits of the City of Lenexa. The only exceptions are simple ground-based devices like smoke bombs, sparklers, snappers, and paper caps. Fireworks displays require a permit which is only issued to a professional with the proper licensure, bonding, and inspection. Fireworks patrols are conducted by the Lenexa Fire Department and the Lenexa Police Department to educate the public and eliminate illegal activity. Possession and use of illegal fireworks can result in confiscation, arrest and a possible fine up to $2500.

Following are the applicable Lenexa city codes which apply to Fireworks:

3-6-B-1 Fireworks Sale and Possession Prohibited

3-6-B-2 Discharge of Fireworks

3-6-D-1 Fireworks Defined
